About

Australian contemporary jeweller and metalsmith Meghan O’Rourke has been designing and making jewellery for nearly ten years. She has always enjoyed experimenting with materials and the process of making, and it was this initial desire to create that first lead her to jewellery making.

After several years experience working in the retail jewellery industry, Meghan recently completed a three year Bachelor in Visual Arts & Design at Adelaide Centre For The Arts, where she specialized in jewellery. As of 2006 she has been based at the prominent JamFactory Metal Design Studio as an associate designer, from where she is continuing to develop her private jewellery practice. The JamFactory provides her with not only a fantastic environment to make jewellery, but also an opportunity to collaborate with fellow artists and explore various media.

As a designer of contemporary jewellery and small objects, Meghan utilises the fascinating optical effects of titanium and the vivid colour palate achieved through the anodising of aluminium. She has since developed a style of working that is strongly materials and technique orientated, working intuitively and often letting the process determine the final appearance of the piece.
